For Immediate Release: The Center for Sex and Culture and Good Vibrations announce the launch of "Wanderlust with Rhonda" a 15 week, one woman, bicycle tour across the United States. Nora Dye, Bay Area activist, advocate and UC Berkeley graduate will be traveling the country from New Jersey to San Francisco on a solo bicycle trip to meet with and listen to advocates, sexuality educators, and others who are working for reproductive autonomy, increased access to health care, and combating negative images of female sexuality. During the ride, Nora will be interviewing the people she meets along the way and posting their interviews at http://www.wanderlustwithrhonda.com/. "Wanderlust with Rhonda" has the goal of creating a better understanding of how people across the country are working to promote sex-positivity and reproductive justice. Ms. Dye explains, "I am particularly interested in talking with people who have traditionally been marginalized from mainstream conversations about sexuality and reproduction — women of color, women in rural areas, immigrant women, low-income women…people who may not identify as pro-choice, or sex-positive, but who are working every day to help women own their bodies and their lives."
This tour is supported by Good Vibrations (http://www.goodvibes.com/), the Bay Area’s original and largest feminist sex store, and sponsored by the Center for Sex and Culture (http://www.centerforsexandculture.org/), which provides sex positive sex education throughout the Bay Area and beyond through workshops, events, and classes. CSC director Carol Queen, Ph.D., says of Nora’s trip, "We’re so pleased to be able to facilitate this project, which will not only connect many of these organizations and educators with one another, but will also provide us with a significant reference section for our archive here at the Center for Sex & Culture. Today’s sex educators and reproductive rights activists often work at the community level and with little acknowledgment, and Nora’s ride will allow us better information about the important work they do."
For more information on the "Wanderlust with Rhonda" tour contact http://www.wanderlustwithrhonda.com/ or contact Nora directly at 415-513-2160. For comment from the Center for Sex & Culture, please email Carol Queen at mail@sexandculture.org.
