Porn Nation, Driving Right, and Tailwinds

Today I finish the first leg of my journey – at 2:30 (hopefully) I’ll roll into Cambridge to meet the women who are running the Female Sexuality program at Harvard. What that means for you, dear readers, is that you will have to wait until tonight for an explanation of this post. But trust me, I haven’t abandoned you, and I promise oodles of information this evening. In the meantime, you can ruminate on two things:
1. My route has been largely following interstate 95, and at one point I was riding right next to it, through a sort of godforsaken part of Connecticut. A new office building was going up literally right next to the freeway, across from a car repair shop. On the front there was a sign that said "If you worked here, you’d be home by now."
2. Yesterday morning I was sitting in the old Clamtrapper off Route 146 having breakfast and reading the Day, a newspaper from somewhere in Connecticut. In the police blotter, there was something to the effect of "Gerald Scott, 32, arrested at the intersection of Old Sawmill Road and Beaver Creek for driving under the influence, public drunkenness, and not driving right." I can just see the cop laboring over his police report, looking up at his partner and saying "Hey Joe, what’s it called when a guy’s driving all crazy?" and Joe looking back at him, "Well, I’d say he just weren’t driving right".
"Not driving right." the cop nods, and writes it down.
