Quick update from the land of suicidal bunnies

We’re in Deerfield, just outside of Madison, after a harrowing day of trying not to run over bunnies, chipmunks, and other unidentified small furry creatures who would wait until just before we rode by and then dart across the path, sometimes pausing in the middle to sniff us. I no longer hold such bad feelings against car drivers for all that roadkill.
We’ve been without internet for the past two days, so more detailed entries will have to wait until we get to Madison tomorrow.
I’ve also started realizing that I don’t have anyone to stay with in Iowa. Anyone know anyone who knows anyone who knows anyone else in Iowa? I’m going to be riding along Highway 9 or thereabouts, so pretty far North, which makes things more difficult than they need to be, housing wise.
The ride today was gorgeous. You really have to see it to believe it. If all goes well, I’ll have a fast connection in Madison and you’ll get to look at more pictures than you know what to do with. It’s exciting to be you.

Hi Nora,
I know people in Iowa along Hwy 9 in New Hampton. Call me if you want some Iowa peeps to stay with. I hear there’s a crazy storm a-brewin’—stay safe!!

Hi Nora,
I started to send an e-mail to people asking if they knew anyone on Route 9 in Iowa. Then I looked at the map and realized there’s no way anyone I know knows anyone there. You’re on your own, baby.
Love,
Mom
